YouTube is extending artificial intelligence across more of the creator workflow, from editing and audience management to product discovery and shopping. The strategy is designed to make content production faster while drawing more commercial activity onto the platform.

At its Made on YouTube event in New York, the company introduced new AI-powered tools inside YouTube Studio. Creators will be able to receive feedback on video drafts, generate thumbnails that match their channel style and test multiple versions of a video before settling on a final cut. Gemini-powered features in Shorts and YouTube Create will also help remove pauses, rearrange footage, synchronise music and add text through conversational prompts.

The changes reduce some of the technical work that has traditionally slowed production. They also give YouTube a larger role in how content is shaped before it reaches viewers.

That influence now extends to monetisation. YouTube plans to expand its Shopping affiliate programme to 35 countries by year-end, building on a network of more than 1.3 million participating creators. Users in India and Brazil will also gain the ability to tag Amazon products, while product offers will increasingly be localised across markets.

Discovery is being reworked at the same time. Ask YouTube will support product questions, comparisons and follow-up queries, while personalised feeds will allow users to create homepage sections around specific interests.

What YouTube is building is less a collection of new features than a tighter commercial loop. Creators can produce, test, publish and monetise content without leaving the platform, while viewers can move from discovery to purchase with fewer breaks in the experience. That gives YouTube more control over the creator economy’s most valuable stages, and more ways to convert attention into revenue.
